How long will the 2024 solar eclipse last?

The full length of the 2024 solar eclipse will be around two hours and 40 minutes, counting the time when the moon first appears in front of the sun, until the sun is once again fully visible. The totality period, in which the moon completely obscures the sun, will vary, depending on your proximity to the center of the path of totality. Locations on the center of the path of totality will experience around four minutes of midday twilight. The longest viewing period for the 2024 solar eclipse will be near Torreón, Mexico, where it will last up to 4 minutes and 28 seconds. In Austin, viewers will experience approximately 1 minute and 46 seconds of totality.
